Upgrading win2003 to win2008 and conifguring the AD
1) Install and Configure windows 2008 sever with Statis IP
2)Prepare the forest and domain with the new extensions
adprep /forestprep
adprep /domainprep
If this DC is a Read only Domain Controller then run adprep /rodcprep but there should be
2008 domain controller present to add the RODC
3)DCPROMO :this will promote the current computer to a new Domain Controller
4)During the installation a wizard would ask if this server is also a Global Catalog server and DNS server select YEs.
5)Complete the next steps and the New Domain Controller is ready.
6)change the FSMO (Flexsible Single Master Operations)
1)Change the DOmain Naming Master for Active Directory Domains and Trusts
2)Change Schema Master for Active Directory Schema
3)Change RID Master,PDC Emulator and infrastureture Master for Active Directory User and COmputers
7)RUn DCpromo on Win 2003 DC and remove the DC role from it and shutdown.
